5 Random Things About Ashley

It's important for you to know who your trainer is,
so here goes.

5 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME!

I have 3 plates and 39 screws in my face.  True!  Before I got married I had TMJ surgery.  It was really tough but I'm glad I did it!  After the surgery, I was not allowed to chew for 6 weeks.  During that time, all I wanted was a sandwich.  I could hardly stand it when I saw other people eating sandwiches.  Not sure why, I never really loved them before???  Anyhoo, I had this long list of foods I was going to eat as soon as the doc gave me the go ahead.  Disappointment:  the first bite I had at that point was mashed potatoes... and it hurt!  Needless to say, it took a little time to recover.  Glad I did it, but glad it's over!  Oh, and incase you are wondering, I don't have any trouble going through airport security.  The doc did tell me that I might possibly cause the medal detectors to go off!  LOL  So far I've made it through just fine!  :)

I have had 3 broken bones as an adult in the past 7 years :/
1)  Fracture on the top of my right food when I was pregnant with my son.   2)  Fractured my little toe on my left food by kicking it on the wooden dog bed in the night.   3)  I broke my right hand this past fall.  That was the worst!
Ok, enough about my bones.

I was born on fathers day.
My sister was born on mothers day.
I'm not lying.

In high school, I decided I was going to be a marine biologist (I love the OCEAN!!!), but then I realized that job might compete with the other job I wanted:  stay-at-home mom!  I've been able to work my side jobs around my career as homemaker:  personal training, group fitness classes,
blogging, and FITNESS VACATIONS!!!

I get a headache if I sleep past 8 am,
no matter what time I go to sleep!?!?

Well, there it is.
I hope you feel like you know me a little better now.

  1. Ack on the surgery & broken bones! Too funny about your & your sister's birthdays {what are the odds?}. My oldest daughter was born on Valentine's Day & my son & my nephew were born on the same day 3 years apart! Woot!

    1. Lol! My calcium is actually fine, but I did get vitamin A toxicity a while back... Think that may have played a role in the toe. I have no excuse for the other 2! :/

  3. Hey Ashley, it was fun to read your random facts. It would be hard to have a broken foot during pregnancy...yikes. I broke my pinkie toe as a result of exercise...I was sore and stiff, sneezed, clumsily lost my balance, and kicked the wall. But I wasn't pregnant. Your birthday coincidences must have really tickled your parents...wow!
I like your blog. Cool. Lynaea @ EverydayBloom.com

    1. Hey Lynaea! When I was close to 6 months pregnant I slipped and fell on the top of my foot. I landed hard! I was a bit shocked and hobbled over to my couch. I immediatly elevated my foot and knew it was really hurting, but my concern for my baby overshadowed my pain. I got nauseated (this happens to me with broken bones) but I assumed it was because I was pregnant (which made no since b/c I had not experienced nausea that whole pregnancy!) I spent that whole day at different doctors making sure the baby was ok. Turns out, all was well with baby :) After all this calmed down, I realized I fractured the top of my foot. I was able to walk fine and wear flip flops so I didn't go to the doctor. If it would have been winter, I would have had to be put in a boot because shoes were NOT going on my foot! It really is amazing how the love we have for our kids trumps even that kind of physical pain!

  4. That is awesome how you and your sister were born on the parent's day! What an amazing gift! I feel like that trumps all other gifts. My husband has the same issue with headaches if he sleeps more than 8 hours. If I get up before 8AM I always have a headache and feel nauseous.
    That fruit basket looks delicious!!!

P.S. I found you through the lovely Tabetha @ A Closet Intellectual (I am also on her sidebar for the month).
