7-Day Brown Rice Cleanse
So I’d be missing a sweet part of life if I rejected these treats. Now, I say all that to say I’m feeling a bit sluggish from all the memories I’ve partaken in over the month of December. Blaaaa.
It’s time to clean house and rid myself of the toxin that have built up in my intestines. Fancy.
Cleansing is controversial and can be dangerous. For me, I found the 7-day brown rice cleanse to be very good. I’ve done it a few times fully and a number of times I’ve gone on it for 4-5 days.
WHY I’M DOING IT:
1. To Boost my immune system – don’t have time to get sick
2. To Clear the fog and cobwebs from my brain and get better brain focus
3. To Press the reset button on what my body is craving. Then making good food choices is much easier.
So here are the details of the 7-DAY BROWN RICE CLEANS. My hubby will be joining me this time 🙂 and my kids will do a modified version. They will drink one glass of veggie juice a day a long with a serving of brown rice and steamed veggies. I don’t care if they like it… it’s only a few days and we have to break the habit of eating candy and treats everyday!
First thing in the morning, drink 2 fresh squeezed lemons, 1 tbsp maple syrup and 8 oz of pure water.
Breakfast green energy drink: juice 6 carrots, 1 beet, 8 spinach leaves, 1/4 cup fresh parsley
Mid-Morning drink a cup of cleansing & purifying tea or burdock tea
Lunch have a veggie juice like Super V-7: 2 carrots, 2 tomatoes, handful of spinach leaves and parsley, 2 celery ribs, 1/2 cucumber, 1/2 green bell pepper, add 1 Tbsp of green super food
Mid-Afternoon glass of carrot juice
Dinner cooked brown rice and steamed vegetables, sprinkled with sea veggies, add 1 Tbsp of flax or olive oil and 1 Tbsp of Bragg’s Liquid Aminos
Before bed cup of herbal tea like peppermint, spearmint, or chamomile
have 2-3 glasses of mixed veggie juice throughout the day. Don’t eat any solid foods during the day. Have brown rice and steamed veggies as an early dinner.

Vacation Part 1 and Fitmark Guest Post
I’m on vacation!!!!!! My kids and I are staying at my parents house – for 3 weeks! They live in the coolest little German town called Gruene, home of Gruene Hall – the oldest dance hall in Texas! It’s really in New Braunfels, which is in between San Antonio and Austin. If you are ever in the area, you need to get here. There are 2 rivers to tube on – we will be doing that! – and a ginormous water park called Schlitterbahn. Yes we will be going there too and yes I spelled it right, even though my computer doesn’t think so. Anyway, spending the summers at this water park has turned us into water park snobs. Seriously, it has 3 different campuses, 2 up hill water slides, a simulated surfing attraction, tube slides, family raft rides, 3 lazy rivers… one with waves, and a LOT more. New Braunfels also has the cutest park where the spring fed river (the Comal) starts and deer all over the place that will eat out of our hands. I love it here. I will share pictures over the next few weeks.
I’m actually calling this a working vacation. I get to meet my friends over at HYPERWEAR in Austin for the first time and I will also be taking a weekend trip to New York… by myself!!!!! in a week for Tye4® Pilates Certification! I’m pumped about that for sure. I’ll be sharing my adventures here on the blog.
PILATES FOR RUNNERS
I am so excited that I am now an Ambassador for a company called Fitmark! Fitmark specializes in sports bags that are perfectly designed for fitness without compromising style. YAY!
Ok ladies, you know how the “shopping for a purse” routine goes: First select it based on color, size, and style. Now ask yourself, “Will this look good with what I wear?” Second, we must open it and inspect all the features of the purse: “How will my wallet fit? Will this bag become a BLACK HOLE, or does it offer organization? Where will I put my cell phone and will I be able to pull it out fast enough when it rings without making a scene in public?” And third, “Is it a good fit for me? Will it continually fall off my shoulder? Is it the right length for me? And on and on and on. How happy are we when we find the perfect bag?
DIY Household Cleaners
Essential Oils CAN BE Toxic!
Essential oil is the liquid that is distilled from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots, and other elements of a plant. It contain the essence of the plant it came from. To me, essential oils are like diamonds. A diamond is a form of carbon that was exposed to great heat and pressure 100 miles or more below the Earth’s surface. Volcanic activity brought these hidden jewels closer to the Earth’s surface and now we mine them and wear them proud. What a BEAUTIFUL process!
Essential oils are also treasure found in nature. We can use them for their smell, medicinal purposes, and cleaning. SO GOOD… SO NATURAL… BUT VERY POWERFUL!
As we use them, we need to understand a little bit about them. We wouldn’t take a pill without knowing what it will do and the amount we should use because we know that it’s actually going to do something. Essential oil is no different! Enough said.
1. Phototoxicity: certain oils can become toxic when exposed to sunlight. They can be used in candles, but should not be used on anything that will stay on your skin and be exposed to the sun. Using them in soap is fine because it’s washed off, but avoid them in lotions and balms.
2. Plain Toxicity: at certain levels, these oils will make you sick or hurt you. Some of them can be used in soap or candles, but need to be used in moderation.
THIS is a list of essential oils are TOXIC, what to avoid during pregnancy, and which ones should be used with caution.
